Mitolo Jester Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

Mitolo Jester Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

This wine wasn't what I expected as it didn't taste like your normal Cabernet from the Vales. There was lightness but the mid-palate had some really rich components. It all came into place when I read the media release as 20% of this wine is dried like they do to make Amorone's. Ben Gleatzer partially dried a proportion of this grapes which concentrates the richness and adds texture. The wine comes in at 14.9% alcohol but I thought it tasted more like 13% as the wine is so alive. The flavours of wild herbs, fresh blackcurrants and chocolate covered licorice meld beautifully with the acidity and forceful tannin structure. For $28 bucks it is very good value but I bet you could find it for under a twenty if you stick it into google and hit search.
