10 Min X Tractor Pinot Noir 2009

The Mornington Peninsula is situated south east of Melbourne and as the name suggests the wine region is surrounded by water on three sides. This aspect allows the grapes to remain cool at night which in the recent drought years has been a god send. Before vines were planted the land was predominately used for apples and cherries which reminds me of the Adelaide Hills.  That might be why Pinot and Chardonnay do so well.

The wine starts out with a cool swagger, think strawberries, but then moves up a gear into the cherry and beetroot spectrum with a little spice on the finish.  While it is enjoyable to drink the palate didn't fill out enough for me to love it. This would work brilliantly on Christmas day with a turducken.
