Torbreck The Steading 2008

The Steading was the first wine that got me onto the Torbreck bandwagon.  I see the Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro (GSM) blend as a quintessential component of what the Barossa can do.  As a young wine they are very attractive but they have structure to age in the medium term.  Generally, the GSM’s are priced at the lower to middle of the scale.  However, a few winemakers are starting to showcase the true glory of blending top quality parcels.

Torbreck The Steading 2008

This is a wine you should just open and glug, as the spicy meat flavours slip down the back of your throat so easy.  There is a nice floral component lifting the interest level but otherwise it is a high class BBQ wine.  I'm not talking the wine down, saying it would be great at a BBQ as the flavours of the wine would pair perfectly with a range of different meats.
