Shobbrook Wines Syrah 2009

Tom Shobbrooks wines are so easy to drink and intelligently constructed that I could have passed this over as a drink now wine.  After 3 days sitting on the fridge, the wine was still blossoming while maintaining its slurp-ability.

Shobbrook Wines Syrah 2009

The wine is bursting with vibrancy and food friendly flavours. Like all of Tom's wine they show well upon opening but develop ridiculously well with air.   The tannins creep up on you adding a texture like crushed rice bubbles to the beautiful flavours of blueberries, ironstone, dark chocolate, warm clay and Dutch licorice. What is so eloquent about the wine is its savoury edge mixed with pure drink ability that cries at you to take another mouthful. Immanently and dangerously seductive in nature. Just a quiet word, I tasted the 2010 next to this and the 2010 took the quality up a level.
